Day 132 - details of my 10,000 page views giveaway....xx

Sunday 12th May

As regular readers know I do like a gentle Sunday.  I chose today to start writing my Meditation through Writing course that I am offering between June and the end of October.  I am so excited about this as I see it as a natural next step on a journey as a teacher and writer.  I have taught all my adult life since qualifying in 1988.  I have taught all ages and a broad range of subjects but this new ventures promises much.  My meditation practice in recent years has grounded me and ensured a happier life and I have been itching to pass these experiences on.  I have chosen to offer a first course that fuses the practices of meditation and writing as the combination is incredibly powerful and even life changing.  On a day to day basis we only use such a small amount of our mind's capacity and this course will enable us to reach further and understand more.

I hope that it will appeal to a broad range of people and for a variety of reasons.  It is deliberately creative and therapeutic at the same time.  The course will be offered both face-to-face and virtually.  I am thrilled that the face-to-face course filled up within days of announcing it but I still have lots of space on the virtual course.  Each month participants on the virtual course will receive a pdf into their inbox outlining the exercises for that month.  It is entirely up to you which ones you choose and how many you do.  The course is designed to be flexible.  A closed forum will be set up in order for participants to share their experiences and outcomes as they wish.

As this is my first offering of this brand new course there is no charge.  All I ask is that you give some feedback to help shape my future teachings.  The full outline is now available from this blog by clicking on the Meditation through Writing tab on the top menu.  If you would like to join us please message me and I can answer any queries you might have.  Feel free to pass these course details on to others who you think might be interested.

After the hustle and bustle of the last few days it was calming to get back into my tunnel and see that all is well.  The borage looked a little unhappy but nothing some water couldn't fix.  Top of the class at the moment is my cosmos that is really showing the world it means business.  My new seedlings appear to be managing in the tunnel so I set about sowing some watercress.  Watercress likes it wet so that is all you need to know about that little darling.

We are finally at the stage that we are ready to start planting into the ground.  Better late than never!  That rather dictates the week ahead on our smallholding.  With less than 4 weeks to the plant sale we could just do with a little more sunshine to bring things on a bit.

I promised some more details on the giveaway that will celebrate 10,000 page views.  Not a number I had in mind when I began this blog.  I think getting a 1000 page views by the end of the year was more like my aspiration.  I do like it when I am wrong.  I have given this giveaway a lot of thought and have decided that it will be as follows -

I will set a little quiz in the next week or so which will test two things.  The first will see how much you can remember from what I have written about over the past few months.  The second will see how transparent I think I am becoming by asking questions where you make an informed guess.  You know me pretty well now so this will be fun!

From people who get all the questions right I will randomly select 2.

The prize -
You select someone special in your life and let me have their name and address and just a little bit about them.  I will then spend some time making up a gift box of a selection of handmade gifts from us that I think they will enjoy.  I will include a message from you in their box.  You mustn't tell your special person you have won or anything about the prize as this will make for a lovely surprise.

I appreciate that this is a rather unusual giveaway but I feel it is in the spirit of this little blog and the venture that is developing from it 'One soul, many hearts.'  I hope to give you all a week or so to have a go at the little quiz and I do hope as many of you as possible will take part.  Now all I have to do is decide on the questions....look out later in the week.

As promised I have put the instructions for the prayer flag on my Scottish island mum facebook page.  All help will be hugely appreciated.  I will be auctioning the flags on that facebook page and all proceeds with go to the Butterfly Tree charity.  I have already made a few flags and they are just perfect for using up bits and pieces of fabric and ribbons etc.  The point is that each flag will be different so if you win one you know yours is unique and your money has helped our fight against malaria.  Is that what we all mean by a win-win situation?

We are collecting all the pennies raised so far on the island together this week to pay into the bank on order to do our first 'my donate' transfer.  Look out later in the week for the total to rise significantly.

There are times in life when we have too many plates spinning so I am going to collect up my plates in a neat pile and leave them be for a while.  Good plan Fiona.

Until tomorrow. xx
