Scottish island mum did not wake early.....but when she did thoughts of a sabbatical washed over her and she simply smiled.
In her heart there lies her family but nudging its way in is writing.
Since 2011 when she first put pen to paper something changed in her.
Now in 2013 writing has wrapped itself around her soul so this sabbatical made her smile.
Scottish island mum began so meekly and so small but one blog at a time the voice began to grow.
Along with the voice came the beginnings of a dialogue with people from all corners of the world.
This dialogue grew in strength as voices came together to share a thought or a moment suspended in time.
So now as Scottish island mum moves into new writings it is the time to believe in her writing.
It is a time to see the writing through a different viewfinder; one that sees a future and a space to inhabit.
This sabbatical is therefore defined by a need to find a place for writing that is not compromised.
A writer's journey is completely sacred and deeply personal but this one is surrounded by that shared dialogue.
It is to this dialogue that she can now turn to reflect on what has been spoken and what still needs to be heard.
Working through intentions Scottish island mum will capture the essence and start to see the new knowing that will, no doubt, emerge.
As the sabbatical comes to an end a life will be restructured and the knowing will be centred in a heart that is growing.
This is just the beginnings of the experience so let us, indeed, begin.
I may not have got the residency but I am doing the project anyway.... Moments of Reflection - Brodick Castle is a contemplative photography and creative writing project based at the castle on the island. The aim is capture the essence of Brodick Castle through photographs that can then be used to inspire creative writing. Although part of my personal writing journey I am opening the project up to others. I will be posting photographs and inviting creative writing to make a response. This may come from me but it may come from others. I may even be able to post photographs taken by others which will be very rewarding. This project will allow me to focus on one of my favourite places in the world and create time for responses that have grown in depth over the many visits I have made to Brodick Castle.
Scottish island mum will keep readers up to date with this project but do pop over and have a little peek at this new blog.
Until tomorrow. xx
